The May Report: 1/16/2012: In case you missed it, Lesley Stahl did a profile on Andrew Mason Sunday night at the top of 60 Minutes while the Giants were bashing the Packers and the profile also gave us a feel for the Groupon culture and office environment; My deal with Kapil –32 days of email exchanges versus about a day or less with Kevin Willer — well, some folks haven’t gotten the memo yet that Thornton and Weinstein (and their world views) are gone; Steve Fisher on Google Adwords and Adsense; Is Gary Slack taking business ethics lessons from Blago?; and 100 things I want to know before I die — continued

The May Report: 1/11/2012: Rather than just doing the normal thing which is setting up partnership relationships and offices, PT Slack (of Slack and Company) appears to be photoshopping images of his logo into overseas “offices” to shore up a sinking account which he might lose were he not faking it; Kathryn Born may be fairly new to the tech reporting game, but don’t sell her short: TINC Mag has launched a start-up catalogue which now has 71 firms and they’re adding about 3 new firms a day –we can debate whether Restaurant.com and SitterCity.com are really start-ups (Sitter has been around since 2001), but Kathryn argues that regardless of how much time a firm has been operating, if they’re still looking for money, they’re a start-up; on top of all that Kathryn manages to run TINC on about $200/mo! and she’s talking to possible investors; Russ Rosensweig’s name resurfaces after many years

The May Report: 1/9/2012: Today is five years to the day since the introduction of the iPhone, as Steve Jobs said, the iPod and a Phone; Ed Domain, you’re now batting .500, down from a thousand: you were right about Mike Rhodes closing the Syncubator, but it turns out that you were wrong about what…

The May Report January 6th, 2012

The May Report: 1/6/2012: I’m not kidding her, but my plan is four reports by Saturday afternoon: New World Ventures, MK Capital lead $9.5MM Series B round for online event and meeting firm Eved; my nomination for the most under reported story of 2011: The shutting down of the Fermilab Tevatron collider; in the next…

The May Report: 1/3/2012: GoGo, formerly Aircell, filed in late December for a $100MM IPO; Len Bland and David Carman, I’m very sorry: I had wanted to get this out by noon, but after they took me off the dialysis machine, my BP dropped, my vision was very blurry and I was quite dizzy and lightheaded, so they put me on oxygen, stuck me again and gave me 600cc’s of saline; I got home at 3pm and had to take a nap; So, if anyone is downtown now and has the time, head over to Polsinelli Shughart, 161 N. Clark. 41st Floor for three presentations at the BNC VC Group: BarCrowd’s phone app enables people to find the best bar for them based upon real-time demographics such as how full the bar is, gender ratio, and wait time. The app enables bar owners to advertise and attract patrons.; Physician Software Systems is commercializing Mayo’s innovative approach to managing the anemia experienced by patients undergoing kidney dialysis. Mayo’s software system improves patient outcomes while dramatically reducing the use of a very expensive drug. Mayo is already using the system to treat hundreds of patients within its 15 dialysis units.; TreeFree Online Property Management Software enables association members to view their ledgers of payments, submit work orders, download Board Reports, by-laws, etc. It enables the Board of Directors obtain votes via email, send delinquent owners to collection and send announcements to the entire Association with just one click of the mouse!; Lew Mitchell is probably involved in the Mayo Clinic presentation — he interviewed me on what it’s like to be on dialysis (he’s been working on this since he bolted Howerton at FastRoot — but he would not tell me anything about his Terry experience); Wednsday from 11am to 8pm at VentureShot at 744 N. Wells, hosts an open house
