The May Report: 9/28/2011: Neil Kane: L’shana Tova Tikatevu: For whom the bell tolls, A year ago tomorrow, almost 12 months ago exactly, you were standing in front of the EDC, having lied about your credentials to secure the speaking position, and today, you’re still lying, but you’re standing in front of a mirror at home alone. What am I talking about? Take a look at Neil’s biggest claim to fame – his 2007 award by the World Economic Forum — it’s on his Linkedin profile — it’s on virtually every reference to Neil that you can find. It looks great Neil — unfortunately there’s only one problem: Neil didn’t receive this accolade — ADT did. It’s called conflating; Yesterday, September 27th, Federal Judge Amy St. Eve issued an 8 page opinion which I haven’t read yet because I can’t open the Adobe reader pdf, but the opinion is right down the line with the defense, meaning that she has granted our Motion for Summary Judgment for case No. 10-cv-03605; Thanks to Judge St. Eve and to Jeff Becker the case is over!; also my own thanks to Tom Yardley, Tom Osran, Bill Anthony and a few others for their help; Something’s rotten in Bland Land — Len rented out the conference room near the Plaza Ballroom at the Hyatt on Wacker Dr. to hold a dinner meeting for the Midwest Renaissance Fund from 6:30pm to 9:30pm Tues. night for some out of town guests to eat — you know why Len keeps this charade up and won’t just start an angel group? First, he has no money of his own and second, he wants to collect a 2% or more management fee which he can do with a venture fund and not with an angel group…. two more reports before sundown which is 6:37pm central daylight time

– The conflation and prevarication of Neil Kane: First, the false representations in his bios and second, the press release that shows how false they are
[Editor's note: May here. I added the bolding below.
From Wikipedia: Conflation occurs when the identities of two or more individuals, concepts, or places, sharing some characteristics of one another, become confused until there seems to be only a single identity - the differences appear to become lost. [ 1 ] In logic , the practice of treating two distinct concepts as if they were one does often produce error or misunderstanding, as a fusion of distinct subjects tends to obscure analysis of relationships which are emphasized by contrasts. [ 2 ] However, if the distinctions between two concepts appears to be superficial, intentional conflation may be desirable for the sake of conciseness.
Conflating occurs when someone is insecure or arrogant. In Neil’s case it’s a little of both – and the hope that he’d never get caught. Well Neil – the jig – as they say is up. Here are the smoking guns]

and Technology Transfer
Neil Kane, President
Advanced Diamond Technologies, Inc.
Wednesday, September 29, 2010, Noon
The Tower Club, 20 North Wacker Drive – 39 th Floor
Chicago, Illinois
Neil Kane last presented at an EDC Luncheon in April of 2007. At that time, Neil spoke of the 2003 founding and start-up of Advanced Diamond Technologies (ADT) based on advanced material technology (nanotechnology) originally developed at Argonne National Laboratory. Now, nearly 3 ½ years later, ADT has many commercial customers and offers several families of high performance products that take advantage of the unsurpassed properties of diamond. ADT also serves other companies by helping them to incorporate the unmatched properties of diamond into their products.
ADT’s continued growth from the successful commercialization of Argonne’s technology has gained considerable attention in both the private and public sectors. On June 10, 2010, Neil was one of six witnesses to testify on how to improve technology transfer in the U.S. before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science and Technology’s Subcommittee on Research and Science Education.
As founding CEO of several startup companies based upon university or federal laboratory research, Mr. Kane is uniquely qualified to provide a candid assessment of the status of technology transfer in the U.S. Please join us on September 29 th when Neil will provide both an update of activities at Advanced Diamond Technologies and an overview of the panel testimony before the U.S. House Subcommittee.
Neil’s professional accomplishments are anchored by a strong academic foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (high honors) and a Masters of Business Administration from The University of Chicago. He has attended graduate school at the Australian Graduate School of Management at The University of New South Wales in Sydney and did further graduate study in Japan on a scholarship from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). In 2007, Neil was named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.
The luncheon is at noon at the Tower Club, 39 th floor, 20 North Wacker Drive, Chicago. The cost of the lunch and program is $40 for EDC members and $65 for non-members. There is no charge for EDC Corporate and Sustaining Members.

Second, the proof that the bios are false….
[Editor's note: May here. According to Neil, HE was named a Technology Pioneer at Davos - however it looks like he's a little confused - it was actually ADT that was named. Neil, bow hard would it have been for you to have written, "In 2007, Neil's firm Advanced Diamond Technologies was named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum."? Neil, if you look at the six criteria for becoming a Technology Pioneer, five of the six would logically go to firm or organization, not to a person. Enough said...
And Neil, this is a bit of an insult to your "buddy" Bob Geras since he and others like John Carlisle and Dieter Gruen had SOMETHING to do with the financing and the development of the technology, wouldn't you say?]

World Economic Forum Selects Advanced Diamond Technologies as a 2007 Technology Pioneer.
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — Advanced Diamond Technologies, Inc. ( ADT ), the world leader in developing and applying diamond thin-films for industrial, electronic, mechanical and medical applications, announces its selection as a 2007 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.
Judges used six criteria in selecting the winners: innovation, potential impact, growth and sustainability, proof of concept, leadership, and status. ADT is the first diamond company to meet these demanding criteria for selection as a Technology Pioneer. Neil Kane, ADT’s president, will attend the Forum’s Annual Meeting held in Davos, Switzerland, January 24-28, 2007.
“We are honored to be considered among the ranks of the world’s technology and innovation leaders. The opportunity to be on the global stage at Davos and interact with preeminent political and business leaders is thrilling,” said Kane. “This award reaffirms our belief in a bright future for ADT, as 95 percent of previous Technology Pioneers have successfully established themselves in the marketplace, some even becoming household names .”
