The May Report: 9/28/2011: Neil Kane: L’shana Tova Tikatevu: For whom the bell tolls, A year ago tomorrow, almost 12 months ago exactly, you were standing in front of the EDC, having lied about your credentials to secure the speaking position, and today, you’re still lying, but you’re standing in front of a mirror at home alone. What am I talking about? Take a look at Neil’s biggest claim to fame – his 2007 award by the World Economic Forum — it’s on his Linkedin profile — it’s on virtually every reference to Neil that you can find. It looks great Neil — unfortunately there’s only one problem: Neil didn’t receive this accolade — ADT did. It’s called conflating; Yesterday, September 27th, Federal Judge Amy St. Eve issued an 8 page opinion which I haven’t read yet because I can’t open the Adobe reader pdf, but the opinion is right down the line with the defense, meaning that she has granted our Motion for Summary Judgment for case No. 10-cv-03605; Thanks to Judge St. Eve and to Jeff Becker the case is over!; also my own thanks to Tom Yardley, Tom Osran, Bill Anthony and a few others for their help; Something’s rotten in Bland Land — Len rented out the conference room near the Plaza Ballroom at the Hyatt on Wacker Dr. to hold a dinner meeting for the Midwest Renaissance Fund from 6:30pm to 9:30pm Tues. night for some out of town guests to eat — you know why Len keeps this charade up and won’t just start an angel group? First, he has no money of his own and second, he wants to collect a 2% or more management fee which he can do with a venture fund and not with an angel group…. two more reports before sundown which is 6:37pm central daylight time

The May Report: 9/28/2011: Look, if I want to get this out before sundown I have four minutes — oops, already two minutes over — so no time for a headline except that I have been waiting for someone to defend Neil Kane and he is all alone it would seem, plus proof that trivia in TMR is good since I wrote about my experience urinating next to Herman Cain in the Four Seasons Hotel back in 2002

The May Report: 9/26/2011: First Rob Solomon, now Margo Georgiadis. Groupon has lost two COOs in roughly six months! And the killer is that Margo left with 300,000 options sitting on the table theoretically worth about $60MM. I mean, I know that Google pays well but not that well. On top of that the founders and other shareholders are plundering the $950MM VC money and getting out as much cash as they can while the Groupon ship has taken on a lot of water. I have to ask two questions: 1. Where are the folks at Goldman, Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, DLA Piper, and Winston & Strawn on the repeatedly goofy and incompetent accounting? –don’t even think about suing boys because you’ll have to prove that you are competent and I’ll love that suit :-); 2. If Margo saw any chance of an IPO which she could cash out on, why on earth would she leave?; Plus an inside look at the way the national media really works

The May Report: 9/23/2011: Bulletin but not breaking news! In my on-going survey of all the firms that presented to Funding Feeding Frenzy and BNC VC Group, which is 45 for FFF plus about 60 for BNC, voila! ISIS Power founded and run by Jay Harris got $750K in Feb. 2011 from an angel consortium and the guy from that angel group attended the December 2010 FFF event just happened to be there because he saw a flier and he was in the audience; Jay Harris got the technology at Littlefuse, his former employer and he presented at FFF, BNC VC Group, Cornerstone Angels, Stateline Angels and Irish Angles out of Notre Dame; btw, Social Media Week fails to communicate: Hey medium, where’s the message? That story is next…

The May Report: 9/19/2011: A dark tech-noir who dunnit that you won’t find in legit pubs like Crain’s, The Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune or TechCrunch for that matter or in wannabe pubs like Frankie Gruber’s Tech Cocktail, Eddie Domain’s Techli or Seth Kravitz’s Technori — especially not Technori — not only a morality tale but a cautionary one at that

The May Report: 9/14/2011: Ask me no questions, I’ll tell you no lies; I’m sick and tired of making empty promises about reports going out; Connie Cleary now has a new job at Argonne, probably engineered behind the scenes by her “magician” David Gulley and her Rush Pres. job was probably just a temporary and hastily arranged escape from Nancy Sullivan who did tell Connie (a couple of sources have told me) that “I know how to hold a grudge” after which Connie cried and that grudge [sic: may] have been from years ago when Nancy applied for an intern job at UIC’s OTM and Connie nixed it based on her lack of experience at the time; You may be surprised by this but Len Bland, David Carman and David Culver and company are in the TMR Hall of Fame for two weeks; Yaser Maksoud tells me that FDA approval is about three years out; David Culver says (and I have not confirmed it yet) that ISIS which presented in December 2010 got funding
