The May Report: 7/20/2011: How hot is it? The hottest day of the year and I’m dying here. I can’t work without AC and if I turn on the living room AC, the fuse will blow and the computer will be out: It’s so hot that Geoff Domaracki may reduce the elitist ‘Studio 54′ $350 entrance fee for TechWeek, or David Carman may take his tie off or Mike Rhodes may actually pay the rent or Len Bland may forget about that fund he does not have, or Dave Culver may stop waving his arms or Frank Gruber will refuse to have his picture taken at Tech Cocktail or Phil Tadros will stop misrepresenting his company’s work on his site and stop holding up clients for more money; or Nancy Sullivan at UIC will demote Jeremy Hollis to the level of Mark Krivchenia and pay Mark what his title calls for; or Dan Camphausen will drop his defamation case or Howard Tullman will learn manners or Doug Stukel and Mike Profita will tell the truth during their presentations or Bob Geras will have a liquidity event and lose forty pounds, or Ron May will reveal where all the secret invite only parties for TechWeek are, and the list goes on…

Ron …

Here’s the main page for the schedule … the individual items are clickable and pull up more info …

techweek.com/conference/schedule/

It’s sort of confusing, as it’s color-coded according to “niche”, but both of the parties on Friday night are colored as “advertising/media”, while the “mixer” on Sunday (which appears to be “by invitation only”) is colored as “creative/design” … go figure!

Here’s the Built In Chicago page and event page …

www.builtinchicago.org/

www.builtinchicago.org/events/event/listUpcoming

… I hope you can see these, I’m “cookied up” in both my browsers, so it keeps me logged in, so I don’t know what somebody who’s not logged in sees (have you signed up on the site yet?).

There’s a bunch of stuff there, but it doesn’t look like anything “official” from that … although I see that Moog is on the program via the TIE program (midwest.tie.org/article/33/tie-midwest-one-week-july).

On Friday night there’s two parties … the PeopleBrowser one at English:

techwkpeoplebrowsr.eventbrite.com/

… and the 5Degrees/DealsGoAround/LocalTourist “after party” at Sidebar:

5degreesusdgr.eventbrite.com/

It looks from the sign-up stuff that TechWeek had an “earlybird” rate of $199 through 5/20, but it’s up to the $350 “walk up” rate now …

thetechweek-ehometext.eventbrite.com/

… anyway, that’s all I know about it … it was pretty much “off my radar” until Monday when I was informed that I was included in the HyperLocalLIVE team that got press passes! (by the way HLL is at hllchicago.com or HERE for the LiveStream page).
