Quinn to sign bills in about a half hour at The Mart during TechWeek; TechWeek received angel funding two weeks ago for an undisclosed sum and from unnamed angels; Kevin Willer is not only running the CEC, but his now a venture partner for seed investing at New World Ventures; getchute.com has a deal with Conde Nast and is looking to raise $750K including money from Lon Chow and Kevin Willer at NWV; Code Mountain, Fooodies, and Careerly(?) selected as the three top firms out of 12 presenting in SPARK

The May Report: 7/24/2011: While the folks at TechWeek are dreaming of VC funding and huge growth rates, I’ve been dreaming of Hermione Way, a beautiful woman from California who sat on my lap Friday night at the SideBar and at the English Pub parties; What will I remember three years from now? Well, I recall Gary the wine guy from three years ago so I’ll probably remember Penelope Trunk and I will go to the berry shop to lambaste the owner for what he did to the guy who spoke at Entrepreneurs Unpluggd; Gov. Quinn to sign a bill at TechWeek tomorrow allowing TDA II to increase from 1% to 2% the amount of the state’s investment portfolio allowed to be invested in the technology-focused private equity and venture capital fund and here’s something we don’t need: more innovation centers all over the state — will they be more effective than the ITECs were?

The May Report: 7/20/2011: How hot is it? The hottest day of the year and I’m dying here. I can’t work without AC and if I turn on the living room AC, the fuse will blow and the computer will be out: It’s so hot that Geoff Domaracki may reduce the elitist ‘Studio 54′ $350 entrance fee for TechWeek, or David Carman may take his tie off or Mike Rhodes may actually pay the rent or Len Bland may forget about that fund he does not have, or Dave Culver may stop waving his arms or Frank Gruber will refuse to have his picture taken at Tech Cocktail or Phil Tadros will stop misrepresenting his company’s work on his site and stop holding up clients for more money; or Nancy Sullivan at UIC will demote Jeremy Hollis to the level of Mark Krivchenia and pay Mark what his title calls for; or Dan Camphausen will drop his defamation case or Howard Tullman will learn manners or Doug Stukel and Mike Profita will tell the truth during their presentations or Bob Geras will have a liquidity event and lose forty pounds, or Ron May will reveal where all the secret invite only parties for TechWeek are, and the list goes on…
