The May Report: 6/5/2011: The Groupon S-1, version 1.0, reading it, and researching it, is now my Job #1; and boy is there a lot there and NOT there!; Finally some real information we can bite into — can you believe they have 8,000 employees regardless of how anemic the bottom line is?; Conor Sen writes: “I’ll start by tipping my hat to Andrew Mason. He caught social mood just right, creating a coupon/local/flashmob hybrid business model at the perfect time, and has created the fastest-growing company on a revenue basis in American history. That being said, it’s operating like a Ponzi scheme that needs constant infusions of cash to stay afloat as it’s hemorrhaging money.”; and DHH writes: “There’s a very real chance Groupon will never figure out how to tune the revenue machine enough to produce even a penny of profit.” Harper Reed to Obama camp as CTO; $700K to Chicago start-up OpenChime
